Eastman Immigrant Services
Eastman Immigrant Services (EIS) is the Steinbach Chamber’s largest initiative, focused on supporting the successful settlement and integration of newcomers. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Manitoba Adult Language Training for Immigrants (MALTI), Manitoba Settlement and Support Services (MSSS) and Employment Fund (Manitoba). Each year, EIS welcomes hundreds of families to the Southeast region, strengthening the local workforce and contributing to population growth and economic vitality.
Settlement services include:
- Assistance with immigration documents and accessing health care and benefits
- Educational and learning opportunities, including English classes
- Employment services such as job search skills, information on job training programs, and job fairs
- Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program that aids with school registration and support to community resources
- Community connections to leisure activities and settlement info sessions
- Local Immigration Partnership (LIP)
- Volunteer, integration, and event opportunities
