Our History
Early 1920s
A business-focused community organization forms in Steinbach, operating as the Board of Trade.
1929
The Board of Trade leads a major infrastructure effort, purchasing a gravel pit and resurfacing the road to Giroux—then Steinbach’s freight station—through collaboration with local merchants and farmers.
1937
The organization helps establish the Bethesda Hospital Society, culminating in the completion of Bethesda Hospital without government funding.
1950s–1960s
The Chamber supports and promotes key community developments, including schools, hospital facilities, a civic centre, arena, and public library.
1954
The Board of Trade officially becomes the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce, registered with the Government of Canada on March 17.
1999
Eastman Immigrant Services (EIS) was established in 1999 in Steinbach, Manitoba, to assist newcomers with settlement and integration as immigration to the region increased in the late 1990s. The official opening of the new Eastman Immigrant Services location and the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce at 284 Reimer Ave. was hosted by Premier Greg Selinger, along with various local dignitaries, on July 22, 2010. The event marked a significant step in supporting newcomer settlement in the Steinbach area.

The Steinbach Chamber continues to grow and evolve—connecting businesses, educating leaders, and advocating for a strong, vibrant regional economy.
